Flat Bottom Pouches for a Pet Food Range

A pet food brand was moving from small trial bags to 1 kg to 5 kg retail formats. The pack had to stand up on a crowded shelf, resist punctures from kibble and treat edges, and keep the product crisp through a long distribution chain.

• 1 kg to 5 kg formats with a wide, self-standing base
• High puncture and tear resistance against sharp dry kibble
• Barrier against oxygen, moisture and light for aroma retention
• Optional carry handle and resealable closure on the larger packs

Our Solution

We supplied a flat bottom pouch with four side seals plus four corner seals, so the pack forms a rectangular block that stands stably and stacks efficiently. The laminate is a PET / VMPET / PE barrier structure with a matte outer film for a premium, non-reflective finish, and the bottom seal was reinforced to carry the filled weight without bowing. Formats were configured with a press-to-close zipper, a slider, or a die-cut carry handle depending on pack size, and the same laminate is available unprinted for customers who fill on their own lines.

Results

Transport damage dropped noticeably compared with the earlier pillow packs, the block shape holds its form on shelf, and the barrier laminate keeps the kibble aroma inside the bag. Puncture, seal strength and drop checks are carried out on finished goods before release.
